TREATMENTS
PHOTOTHERAPY (LIGHT THERAPY)
Narrowband UVB phototherapy is used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, and itch. Phototherapy works by reducing inflammation and slowing cell growth. Since its first use over half a century ago, phototherapy is frequently favored by patients due to its minimal side effect profile.
BLUE LIGHT TREATMENT
Blue light treatment is a non-invasive procedure that can kill the acne-causing bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes. The device emits light with 417nm wavelength to penetrate 2mm into the skin, helping to reduce skin inflammation and acne pustules.
PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an effective way to treat sun-damaged skin and pre-cancerous skin lesions. PDT causes a photosensitizing drug that’s been applied to the skin to react with oxygen, killing the abnormal cells. It may also be used to trigger an immune system defense or damage the blood vessels feeding the cancer cells.
CHEMICAL PEELS
Chemical peels are used to treat acne, skin discoloration and scars. A chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers of the skin, allowing the smoother skin underneath to come to the surface. This can reduce the appearance of acne or lighten skin discoloration. This method also helps to reduce how noticeable scars are.
SKIN SURGERY
Not every skin issue can be treated with medical treatments; some require surgery. Conditions that may need to be treated with surgery include cysts and certain types of skin cancer. Surgery is often done on an outpatient basis, allowing patients to return home on the same day.
